CUC Substation Update 6/21/20

Pardon the overused pun, but construction work on a substation for the Grand Cayman’s largest utility is truly electrifying. Crews are moving at lightning speed to ensure the safe and smooth installation of a power grid’s most important infrastructure. While the project remains in its infancy, a rough outline of what the substation will look like is slowly coming to life. Be sure to check back here for regular updates on this project and other ongoing general contract work that is being completed by CSG. The substation’s installation is crucial to the ongoing development of luxurious homes in the Grand Cayman Islands.

A list of the numerous updates at the job site are as follows:

  • Fabrication of form work and reinforcement columns footing and stirrups for first lift of building ongoing.
  • Marking out for building ongoing.
  • Also elevations established.
  • Compaction of engineer filling to footprint of building complete.
  • TBM engineers came onsite and did 12 test holes. Results to be confirmed.
  • Mobilize structural fill and compaction ongoing.
