Hurricane tested: CSG luxury homes can weather almost any storm
At Cayman Structural Group, we don’t take hurricanes and storms lightly. We are squarely placed in one of the world’s most notorious hurricane corridors, so we remain ever vigilant in the face of inclement weather. Since August alone, we’ve been forced to deal with the residual effects of seven named tropical systems. From late August to early September, Hurricanes Laura, Marco and Nana brought heavy rains and gusty winds to the island. Fortunately, only minor damage was reported as a result of the systems. October brought three more named storms that generated much fanfare along with some heavy rains and gusty winds. The combination of rapidly occurring storms and ongoing COVID-19 restrictions brought the island to a virtual standstill.
Large concrete foundations and walls can withstand the worst that Mother Nature can throw your way
At Cayman Structural Group, we know that our luxury homes have to do more than just ‘look pretty.’ While we pride ourselves in building some of the finer gems of the islands, we know our buildings have to be able to weather any storm. In safeguarding these homes from potentially Category 5 hurricanes, we pour copious amounts of concrete reinforced with rebar to ensure the structural integrity of the residences are never compromised. Flooding remains a top concern, so design and engineer homes in areas that can withstand sudden liquid encroachments to keep the residences dry and undamaged.
Your luxury vacation home is a place of solace and refuge, so we understand the importance in building structures that can withstand the growing fury of Mother Nature. As hurricanes are predicted to grow in frequency due to global warming, CSG remains committed to designing sparkling yet durable homes. Your vacation days should be carefree and not full of worry or dread as you monitor forecasts, hoping that the next big storm will spare your slice of paradise.
Standing strong in the face of uncertainty
As you can tell from these pictures, the CAACI commercial building stood well against the adverse effects of tropical storm Eta last week. Gloomy skies and a heavy rainfall quickly gave way to spectacular conditions on the island, revealing the superior strength of highly engineered buildings. Whether it’s a dazzling vacation home or a professionally built office building, CSG remains committed to designing and building homes and offices that will keep what matters most to you safe during chaotic moments.
