Cayman Structural Group is ‘Going Green’ with Sustainable Construction Practices

With mounting evidence that human activity is directly contributing to global warming, a growing emphasis on sustainable construction could mean all the difference in reducing man’s carbon footprint. In time, such practices or “going green” could mitigate some of the nastier side effects of a warming climate.

At Cayman Structural Group, we are doing our part to redefine ecological friendly building practices by employing energy efficient and green technologies in our latest projects. Sustainable construction today could mean a greener and brighter world for future generations.

Even in paradise, the undeniable hallmarks of a warming planet are visible. Growing intensity of storms in the tropics, coupled with record-breaking temperatures, have set the stage for calamity. We hope to offset some of humanity’s ill-conceived building processes with breakthroughs in sustainable construction. Recently, we outfitted a seaside estate with a battery of solar panels to reduce this home’s reliance and strain on the islands’ electrical grid. As you might already know, the Cayman’s rely on monstrous diesel generators to produce electricity for the islands. The emergence of solar panel technology could reduce the reliance on electricity.

Building a Better Tomorrow with Sustainable Construction Capabilities

Solar panels are comprised of many smaller units called photovoltaic cells that convert sunlight into energy. Unfortunately, these revolutionary panels are routinely dismissed as a novelty, but there’s a growing consensus that this renewable energy is paying dividends. In addition to federal tax credits, solar panels can increase your property values while lowering utility bills. Solar panels are also become chic and fashionable. Their sleek low-profile design have a lasting modern esque appeal that don’t detract from a home’s overall look. An overall austere and steely design command elements of maturity and sophistication as something greater than just a passing fad or trend. Saving our planet by reducing our impact should never be treated as a ‘luxury.’

Although green technologies don’t come standard in the course of routine construction, we have a skilled workforce that can easily implement these principles into any project. Skilled electricians can discretely incorporate solar panels into a home’s electrical grid. Our willingness to incorporate emerging conservation building practices has been well documented. We also recently partnered with the Periwinkle housing development.  CSG is the lead contractor on Phase II of Periwinkle’s new housing community. These homes will adhere to the prestigious LEED standards of building, which means lower energy bills through individual solar array.
